2014 was the year Malta was firmly put on the map as Europe’s hottest new music destination, thanks to festivals such as Sunscape. With many quality mainstream festivals coming to mainland Malta, 2015 was the year Sunscape, just a 20 minute ferry ride further away, defined itself as the intimate underground festival it aimed to become. With no sign of slowing down, 2016 sees over 60 acts, 8 international artists and 6 live bands across 3 stages, in what is set to be an unforgettable three days and nights. Sunscape 2016 sees alternative acts such as Congo Natty also known as Rebel MC play a coveted semi live set together with his son Congo Dubz at the FDM Crew Bass & Jungle Showcase. Congo Natty is a pioneer and a genre defining artist in the Jungle music. Ragga jungle is a subgenre of oldschool jungle that emerged c. 1989–1990 and was initially heavily based on the productions of Congo Natty himself. Stanton Warriors are an English DJ and production duo consisting of Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley. The UK duo have performed internationally with their infamous Stanton Sessions parties in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and some of the biggest festivals including Coachella and Glastonbury to name a few. Their name was taken from a manhole cover, made by Stanton Ironworks, which seemed fitting with their style of underground, cutting edge music. Joining this eclectic line up is respected electronic music DJ and producer Maxxi Soundsystem who is returning after his exceptional performance in 2015. Revellers can also experience 4 amazing acts in the Psychedelic genre featuring Braincell Live, Unknown Reality, Solar Spectrum Live with its unique psy ambient twist and Kris Kylven from Juno Reactor. Also the top local artists on the islands will be supporting this beautiful array of international talent Much more than simply a music festival, Sunscape will feature several areas that celebrate and integrate ART and LIFESTYLE. 2016 is a year where Sunscape will focus on performing live arts alongside the party. Festival-goers can expect to interact with collaborative art installations or take part in beach yoga and painting workshops by day, then dance under the stars just meters from the sea by night. You can also visit the new Satori Fields in an idyllic Sunflower field to take empowering workshops, enjoy talks and meditations throughout the day and explore the carefully curated holistic area with Lomi Lomi massage, Reiki healing, Swedish body massage, aromatherapy massage and much more. There is also a sequinariun, tarot readings, meditations, sunrise & sunset yoga, surfboard yoga, pilates, thai chi and water sports with diving, jet ski, paddleboat and para sailing.
